Roadside Diner, Routes 33-34, Collingwood Circle, Wall; (732) 919-1199; $. Why single out the Roadside Diner among the scores of diners in this part of Jersey? First, it’s beauitful, or beautiful in the way only diners can be, with a striking red railroad-car-style roof, yellow awnings; and a stainless steel sheen. The diner had fallen into diner limbo until Dimitri and Toula Gerakaris bought it and spent three months cleaning and renovating it. Nothing fancy here; you’ll go for hte atmosphere (check otu the slidigng glass door and tiny bathrooms), friendly banter, and good food. The diner was the center of action in John Sayles’s 1983 movie Baby It’s You. It’s a great place to hang out and watch the world – and the traffic on Route 34- go by. (P. 227)

Another routine Jersey diner - right? Not quite. The first step in
going to this diner is to convince yourself to go inside. The diner
sits on the right hand side of Rt33 W, just past the circle. A red
roof, yellow awnings and a dinosaur made of car parts just serve to
entice you to enter. I drove past it many times before going in, and
    have enjoyed it since.
